WhatsApp May Launch a Premium Subscription Tier

A new rumor suggests that WhatsApp could soon introduce a premium subscription tier, though the core messaging service will remain free.

According to the leak, the upcoming subscription will be called WhatsApp Plus and will offer several additional customization options for users who want more control over the app’s appearance and features.

Subscribers may be able to customize the app’s theme, accent colors, and interface elements. The premium tier is also expected to introduce 14 new app icons that users can choose from to personalize their home screen experience.

Another reported feature is an increase in the number of pinned chats. Currently, WhatsApp allows users to pin only three conversations at the top of their chat list, but the premium tier may increase this limit to up to 20 pinned chats.

In addition, the subscription could include exclusive ringtones available only to paying users. Future updates may also bring other premium perks such as exclusive sticker packs.

Despite these potential additions, the standard version of WhatsApp will reportedly remain free for all users.

For now, it remains unclear when WhatsApp Plus will officially launch or how much the subscription might cost. More details are expected to surface in the coming months.
